Enkai Sushi Bar was founded in February 2009 in Frenchtown on St. Thomas, USVI by Katie Lombardo. The original location was an established landmark as the location of many successful restaurants and bars past and there were big shoes to fill. When Katie decided to leave island in 2012, she turned the restaurant over to Steven Petsche whose experience in the kitchen and relentless work ethic took the young restaurant to new heights. Enkai’s singular atmosphere and unparalleled food became a staple for locals and a necessary stop for visitors.
The restaurant’s destruction in Hurricane Irma marked a new chapter in Enkai’s story. For a year after the storms, the continued future of the restaurant remained a mystery. However, due to Steve Petsche’s persistence and the infallible support of our community, Enkai re-opened its doors in Yacht Haven Grande on St. Thomas in August 2020, three long years after the storms. Although sporting a new and upgraded look, Enkai Sushi Bar is thriving better than ever before and we are excited to welcome you back!
